A four-part song honoring the power of the sun to heal and thaw. The year-round bright sunny days are what drew me to the southwest corner of Colorado where I now live, after nearly two decades in the colder northern clime of Minnesota. Each year there I felt myself slipping further into the gray, till the darkness had the upper hand. For me, the sun and spending time in nature are natural antidotes to depression, providing sustainable sources of life-giving energy.
In the song, Parts 1 & 2 share the same lyrics, setting the melody and a slightly higher harmony, and work well if you want to teach and sing those two sections on their own. Add in one or both of the other parts for additional layering: Part 3 is low, and Part 4 is high. See the learning files below for the separate tracks.
Feel free to sing and share this song. I ask that you credit me by sharing the link to these files and holding to the original arrangement.
Lyrics:
Parts 1 & 2
Sun shine down on me, let my body breathe the light.
Sun shine down on me, let my body feel your warmth.
Sun shine down on me, help me thaw these frozen bones.
Sun shine down on me, help me find my way back home.
Part 3
Sun shine, sun shine, healing me, setting me free. (4x)
Part 4
Shine your light. (2x)
Shine your light, shine your light, shine your light, shine your light. (2x)
